(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Just when they thought they were getting healthy, the Indianapolis Colts received another blow on Thursday when the team placed starting cornerback Marlin Jackson on injured reserve, ending his season.
Jackson injured his knee during a non-contact drill in practice on Wednesday. Head Coach Tony Dungy said that the damage to the knee was significant and would probably require surgery.
Tim Jennings, who has started in place of Kelvin Hayden the past three games, will likely start for Jackson. To replace Jackson on the roster, the Colts have re-signed cornerback Keiwan Ratliff.
The Colts will practice again today as they get ready for their Sunday night game with the New England Patriots. The horseshoes have dropped two-straight games to fall to 3-and-4 this season. It marks the first time since Dungy arrived as head coach before the 2002 season that the colts will enter the month of November with a sub-.500 record.
The Patriots are 5-and-2 and are tied with the Buffalo Bills for first place in the AFC East. The Patriots are winning despite losing quarterback Tom Brady, running back Lawrence Maroney and safety Rodney Harrison to season-ending injuries.
