(UNDATED) - The Ball State Cardinals are ranked 20th in the first bowl championship series standings of the year.

The Cardinals moved up in all three polls as they had the week off. Ball State advanced from 24th to 20th in the media poll, 25th to 22nd in the coaches' poll and 23rd to 20th in the Harris poll.

The Cardinals are 7-and-0, their best start since starting the 1965 season 9-and-0. They were off this past Saturday and face Eastern Michigan this Saturday in Muncie.

As for the rest of the BCS standings, Texas opens up as the overwhelming number one team. Alabama was second with Penn State third, Oklahoma fourth and Southern California fifth.

The top two teams in the final BCS standings will play for the national championship on January 7th at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.
