(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - The NCAA committee on infractions has told Indiana University not to submit a response to the alleged "failure to monitor" violation against the men's basketball program before September 26th.

The original deadline for IU to respond was today. University President Michael McRobbie received a letter from the committee extending the deadline on Tuesday.

The letter from Infractions Committee Chair Josephine Potuto says that the committee is finalizing portions of the report pertaining to specific allegations made against former IU head coach Kelvin Sampson and former assistant coach Rob Senderoff and that the committee directs the university not to finalize its response earlier than September 26th.

The "failure to monitor" charge is one of five violations faced by the university.

Indiana Director of Athletics Rick Greenspan issued a statement saying that the university was prepared to meet the original deadline but that they will work on final edits to their response and submit it on the new date.
