(INDIANAPOLIS) - A piece of the Indianapolis skyline will come down today.

The roof of the RCA Dome, former home of the Indianapolis Colts, will be deflated at around 10:30am. Former Indianapolis mayor Bill Hudnut, who oversaw the building of the 24-year-old dome, will turn off the fans that keep the dome's roof inflated. The roof should fully deflate in 30 to 45 minutes.

Since 1984 the Dome has been the site of 24 seasons of Colts football, hosted four NCAA men's basketball Final Fours, the 1985 NBA all-star game, and even Wrestlemania in 1992.

The Colts have moved into the new Lucas Oil Stadium, and the current RCA Dome site will eventually make way for an expansion to the Indianapolis Convention Center.

It is expected to take a week to remove the teflon roof, while total demolition is scheduled for December.
