Manning Set To Return To Colts Practice Field

Last updated on Tuesday, August 26, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning is expected to return to practice today as the Colts prepare for Thursday’s preseason finale with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Manning has been on the physically unable to perform list since undergoing knee surgery on July 14th.

Head Coach Tony Dungy said during his weekly news conference on Monday that the plan is to remove manning from the PUP list, making him eligible to return to practice.

Team President Bill Polian said following Sunday's preseason loss to Buffalo that Manning would not play Thursday against the Bengals.

Dungy had no updates on the Colts' injured players following Sunday night's loss to the Bills. Pro Bowl center Jeff Saturday and kick returner TJ Rushing suffered knee injuries during Sunday's game. Quarterback Jim Sorgi experienced soreness in his right knee during pregame warmups and did not play against Buffalo.

Dungy says that with the injuries to Manning and Sorgi the team will probably carry three quarterbacks at the start of the season for the first time since he has been head coach of the Colts.
