Finch Will Play For Hoosiers This Fall

Last updated on Friday, August 22, 2008

(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Indiana Univeristy safety Jerimy Finch has received a waiver from the NCAA and will be eligible to play for the Hoosiers this fall.

Finch, a sophomore from Indianapolis, played last season at the University of Florida. He appeared in three games for the Gators as a linebacker before breaking his leg against Tennessee, ending his freshman season.

IU submitted a waiver request on Finch's behalf, citing extenuating personal circumstances in order to get the NCAA to waive its requirement that a player sit out one year when transferring from one division-one school to another.

Finch started practicing with the Hoosiers two weeks ago. He was a key member of the Warren Central High School team that won four consecutive Indiana Class 5A football championships.

Finch was rated the number-one safety in the nation by Rivals.com as a senior in 2007 and was named the top player in Indiana by Rivals.com and Scout.com in 2007.
