Colts Players To Prove Their Worth Against Bengals

Last updated on Thursday, August 28, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts wrap up their preseason schedule tonight as they welcome the Cincinnati Bengals to Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Colts are 1-and-3 in the preseason and are coming off a 20-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills last Sunday night. The Bengals are 1-and-2 after being shutout by the New Orleans Saints 13-0 last Saturday night in Cincinnati.

Both teams will be minus their starting quarterbacks. Peyton manning is coming off knee surgery and Jim Sorgi also has knee problems and will not play tonight for the Colts. Bengals starter Carson Palmer broke his nose against the Saints and will watch tonight's game from the sidelines.

Injuries will be complicating the decisions regarding the Colts' final roster cuts this weekend. NFL teams must be down to their 53-man regular season rosters by Saturday and tonight's game with the Bengals will go a long way toward determining which players make it for the Colts.

The season-ending knee injury suffered by kick returner TJ Rushing is a major complication.

Another problem is at quarterback where injuries to Peyton Manning and Jim Sorgi may force the Colts to carry one and possibly two extra quarterbacks on the opening day roster. Jared Lorenzen and Quinn Gray will play tonight and try to show that they belong.
