New Pacers Promise To Be Good Citizens, Role Models

Last updated on Thursday, July 17, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The message of change continues within the Indiana Pacers franchise.

A day after introducing their two newest draft picks, four players acquired in a pair of recent trades were on hand at Conseco Fieldhouse for an introductory press conference.

Guards T.J. Ford and Jarrett Jack, along with forwards Maceo Baston and Carmel native Josh McRoberts posed for photos with their Pacers jerseys and also spoke of changing the atmosphere and on-court results of the blue and gold.

Ford, a point guard acquired from Toronto as part of the Jermaine O'neal trade, said the players promise to be good citizens and good role models and aim to give their best effort every night and show that Pacers basketball is back.

The players are part of a group of seven new players added this offseason, including draft picks Brandon Rush and Roy Hibbert, who signed on Tuesday, as well as center Rasho Nesterovic.

The Pacers have made the moves by swapping a pair of draft picks and giving up forwards Ike Diogu and Jermaine O'Neal.

The Pacers have missed the playoffs the past two seasons and have also dealt with numerous off-court problems with their players.
