Colts' Rookies Reach Agreements

Last updated on Thursday, July 24, 2008

(TERRE HAUTE, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts report to training camp today in Terre Haute.

Most if not all of the Colts nine draft choices will be under contract in time to report today. While the team has only confirmed the signing of sixth-round pick Pierre Garson on Tuesday, The Indianapolis Star reports that seven of the eight remaining players have either signed or reached agreement on their rookie contracts.

Mike Pollak, an offensive lineman from the University of Georgia who was the Colts' top pick, agreed to a four-year deal reportedly worth around three-million dollars. Pollak was selected in the second round of last April's draft.

Also coming to terms were third-round pick Philip Wheeler, fourth-round pick Jacob Tamme, fifth-round selection Marcus Howard, sixth-round choice Mike Hart and seventh-rounder Jamey Richard. The contract status of sixth-round pick Tom Santi, a tight end from Virginia, is not known.

A player must be signed before he is allowed to participate in training camp. The Colts have not had a protracted rookie holdout since 2004 when Bob Sanders missed all of training camp and was the final draft pick in the NFL to sign. Sanders, the reigning NFL defensive player of the year, proved to be worth the hassle.
