Memorial Stadium's Turf Being Replaced

Last updated on Friday, June 20, 2008

(BLOOMINGTON) - Repairs are underway at Indiana University’s Memorial Stadium in Bloomington.

Crews spent Thursday pulling up the artificial turf in preparation for repairing the flood-damaged field.

Heavy rains earlier this month damaged the gravel foundation underneath the field, causing a sinkhole to form in the south end zone.

The project could cost as much as one-million dollars, part of which is expected to be covered by insurance.

It is anticipated that installing the new turf will take up to four weeks, plenty of time to have the field in playing shape before the Hoosiers' first game on august 30th against Western Kentucky.
