Another Player Leaves IU Basketball Squad

Last updated on Thursday, June 12, 2008

(BLOOMINGTON, IN) The last of Kelvin Sampson’s recruits at Indiana University is leaving.

The school announced Wednesday that point guard Jordan Crawford plans to transfer.

Crawford averaged just under ten points as a freshman last season and would have been IU's leading returning scorer.

Eleven players have left the Hoosier program since the end of last season, leaving senior Kyle Taber and walk-on Brett Finkelmeier as the lone veteran returnees.

The announcement of Crawford's departure comes two days before IU officials will face the NCAA infractions committee in Seattle to answer charges of major violations during Sampson's tenure as head coach. Sampson will give his version of events to the committee on Saturday.

Sampson's contract was bought out by Indiana in late February. He has since joined the Milwaukee Bucks as an assistant coach.
