Lazier Will Make Another Run For The Greatest Spectacle In Racing

Last updated on Thursday, May 1, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indianapolis Motor Speedway opens for rookie orientation and rookie practice on Sunday.

The veterans will begin practicing for the 92nd Indianapolis 500 on Tuesday of next week.

As opening day approaches, a former 500-winning combination announced that they will participate in this year's greatest spectacle in racing. Buddy Lazier was named to drive the #91 Hemelgarn / Johnson Racing entry.

Lazier and team owner Ron Hemelgarn teamed up to win the 500 in 1996. Lazier will be attempting to make the field for the 16th time.

In other news, IndyCar series officials have fined driver Ed Carpenter for inappropriate conduct following last Sunday's race at Kansas Speedway. Carpenter was fined an undisclosed amount for using inappropriate language during interviews at the April 27th race.
