(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Indiana University basketball player Eli Holman will transfer following an incident Thursday afternoon at Assembly Hall.
The 6-9 freshman met with new IU basketball coach Tom Crean yesterday afternoon seeking his release so that he could transfer to another school. Holman became so agitated that university police were called to calm the situation down.
According to the police report, Holman threw a potted plant and had to be calmed down by Athletic Director Rick Greenspan.
In a statement released by the university, Crean says he and his assistant coaches had what he categorized as a "good meeting" with Holman earlier in the day. Crean says he thought Holman was planning on staying at Indiana and that he wanted Holman to take some time in making a decision.
Crean did not say what made Holman angry, but that police were called because Crean thought Holman posed a danger to himself.
Crean says that he does not anticipate Holman returning to the program and that they will do what they can to help him move forward.
Holman played in only six games as a freshman, missing most of last season with a wrist injury.
