Indy 500 Practice Resumes On Wednesday

Last updated on Tuesday, May 13, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - AJ Foyt Racing has announced that Jeff Simmons has been hired to drive the #41 car and will try to qualify for his fourth Indianapolis 500.

Foyt already fields the #14 Dallara driven by Darren Manning.

Simmons drove for Foyt in what was then known as the Infinity Pro Series in 2004. He drove for Mo Nunn Racing in the 2004 '500 and was with Rahal-Letterman Racing in 2006 and 2007.

Practice resumes on Wednesday and track time will be at a premium. Rain affected three of the four open practice days last week, completely washing out all track activity on Wednesday and Thursday.

The second day of time trials on Sunday was also wiped out and positions twelve through 33 will be up for grabs when qualifications resume on Saturday.

This week's forecast calls for a 50-50 chance of rain on Wednesday with a slight chance of showers on Thursday and Friday.
