Boilermaker Guard Transfers To Fighting Irish

Last updated on Thursday, May 29, 2008

(SOUTH BEND, IN) - Former Purdue forward Scott Martin will transfer to Notre Dame.

Martin informed Fighting Irish Head Coach Mike Brey of his decision on Tuesday, choosing Notre Dame after making visits to Butler and Valparaiso.

The 6-8 native of Valparaiso started eight games as a freshman for the Boilermakers, averaging 8.5 points and just under four rebounds per game. Martin spent much of last season at power forward for Purdue, but believes small forward is his best position.

He will sit out the upcoming season and will have three seasons of eligibility left beginning with the 2009-2010 season.

He is the second transfer who will join the Irish in 2009. Former Mississippi State shooting guard Ben Hansbrough will have two years remaining when he becomes eligible.
