(WEST LAFAYETTE, IN) - Purdue University has announced the hiring of Jack Owens as assistant men’s basketball coach.
The 31-year-old owens served as an assistant at Southern Illinois the past five seasons. He was hired at Southern Illinois by current Purdue Head Coach Matt Painter in 2003.
Owens played collegiately at Howard Community College in Texas and Eastern Illinois Univeristy. Painter was an assistant coach at EIU when Owens played there.
Owens is a native of Indianapolis, playing at Washington High School. He was named to the Indiana all-star team in 1995.
Owens replaces Cuonzo Martin, who left to become the head coach at Missouri State last month.
