(HOMESTEAD, FL) - The IndyCar series opens its season this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway in South Florida.

Much has changed since Dario Franchitti won last year's finale at Chicagoland Speedway to claim his first IndyCar Series championship. The 2007 Indianapolis 500 winner has moved on to NASCAR.

The unification of the IndyCar series and the Champ Car World Series brings North American open-wheel racing under one banner for the first time in 13 years.

Practice and qualifying are scheduled for Friday with the race on Saturday night.

Dan Wheldon is the defending race winner.

Tune in for all of the racing action this Saturday night at 7:30pm on your home for the IndyCar Series, 1340 AM WBIW.
