Last updated on Wednesday, February 20, 2008

(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Eric Gordon scored 22 points and D.J. White showed no ill effects from his knee injury as 14th-ranked Indiana defeated number 15 Purdue 77-68 at Assembly Hall.

White, who was injured during the Hoosiers' Saturday night win over Michigan State, scored 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. Armon Bassett added 16 points as IU moves a half-game behind Purdue for the Big Ten lead.

Freshman Robbie Hummel led the Boilers with 17 points as Purdue sees an eleven-game winning streak come to an end. Scott Martin finished with twelve points, E'Twaun Moore had eleven and Keaton Grant added ten for the Boilermakers, who fall to 21-and-6, 12-and-2 in the Big Ten.

The Hoosiers improve to 22-and-4, 11-and-2 in conference play. IU travels to Northwestern on Saturday. Purdue is off until next Wednesday when they host Minnesota.

IU's win over Purdue could be Kelvin Sampson's final game as Indiana's head coach. Sampson is accused by the NCAA of committing five major violations involving inappropriate phone calls to recruits and lying to investigators about those phone calls.

Indiana Athletic Director Rick Greenspan is investigating the charges and is scheduled to report his findings to University President Michael McRobbie on Friday.

Sampson said following last night's game that he is focusing on the team and not his situation.
