(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The NBA trade deadline came and went Thursday afternoon with the Indiana Pacers standing pat.

Vince Carter, who has been the subject of rumored deals involving the Pacers, is in Indianapolis - as a member of the New Jersey Nets. The Pacers host the Nets tonight in the first of a home-and-home that concludes tomorrow night at the Meadowlands.

The Pacers have lost three-straight and ten of their last twelve games as they have fallen to 21-and-33 this season. They returned from the all-star break with a 106-97 loss to Cleveland Wednesday night. Indiana was limited to three made free throws over the final five minutes as the offense disappeared late in the game.

The Pacers are expected to be without starters Jermaine O'Neal and Jamaal Tinsley, who have been nursing injuries since well before the all-star break.

New Jersey did trade all-star guard Jason Kidd to Dallas earlier this week in exchange for former Wisconsin star Devin Harris. Harris is out with a sprained ankle.

With Kidd gone, more of the burden is expected to fall on Carter and Richard Jefferson as New Jersey is in the thick of the playoff race. The Nets are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference and hold a half-game lead over eighth-place Philadelphia.

The Atlanta hawks are ninth, one game behind the 76ers for the final playoff berth in the East with Chicago two games back and the Pacers two and-a-half games behind Philly.
