(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indiana Pacers will try to salvage one win on their longest homestand of the season Tuesday when they host the defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs.
The Pacers have lost six in a row, including the first three games of their four-game homestand to drop to 19-and-29 on the season. Their latest setback came on Saturday night when the blue-and-gold lost to the Orlando Magic 121-115.
Indiana came out of Saturday's game with more bumps and bruises at the point guard spot. Travis Diener started and had a career-high ten assists, but tweaked an injury to his right foot that has bothered him for the last two weeks.
Jamaal Tinsley played 21 minutes off the bench before re-injuring his left knee. The sore knee had kept Tinsley out of three of Indiana's previous four games.
The Spurs have been idle since Thursday when they snapped a three-game losing streak with an 84-81 win at Phoenix. San Antonio is 29-and-16 and is in sixth place in the Western Conference, just three games behind the first-place Suns.
Tomorrow's game is expected to mark the Spurs debut of guard Damon Stoudamire. The 1996 NBA rookie of the year signed yesterday as a free agent after being waived by Memphis last Thursday. Stoudamire started all 29 games in which he appeared for the Grizzlies this season, but is averaging just seven points and four assists per contest.
