McRobbie: One Week To Investigate Sampson Allegations

Last updated on Saturday, February 16, 2008

(BLOOMINGTON) - One week. That’s what IU President Michael McRobbie is giving investigators to complete their inquiry into NCAA allegations made against head basketball coach Kelvin Sampson.

Sampson and members of the staff are accused of multiple recruiting violations and lying to IU athletic department officials.

Athletic Director Rick Greenspan will head up the investigation. No word on whether Sampson will be fired or suspended, if the allegations prove to be true.

If the recommendation is to fire Sampson, his contract calls for a 10-day appeal process. IU could also suspend Sampson from coaching duties.

Sampson is expected to be on the sidelines when IU takes on Michigan State at Assembly Hall later tonight.
