Pacers Drop Close Game In OT

Last updated on Thursday, January 10, 2008

(PHOENIX, AZ) - The Indiana Pacers lost a 16-point, third-quarter lead and fell to the Phoenix Suns 129-122 in overtime.

Raja Bell and Leandro Barbosa led Phoenix with 27 points apiece. Amare Stoudamire finished with 26 points and eleven rebounds with Shawn Marion adding 23 points and twelve boards for the Suns, who lead the Western Conference with a 25-and-10 record.

Danny Granger and Shawne Williams led Indiana with 22 points each with Granger pulling down eleven rebounds. Jamaal Tinsley added 19 points and eleven assists, but hit just eight of 26 shots and had several key misses down the stretch.

The blue-and-gold went cold in the fourth quarter, missing their final eleven shots in regulation as Stoudamire's jumper with 26 seconds remaining forced the extra session. Bell scored eight points in overtime with Stoudamire adding seven as Phoenix pulled away late.

Both teams were shorthanded. Indiana was without Jermaine O'Neal, who was resting his sore left knee. Phoenix forward Grant Hill fell ill during the morning shootaround and was taken to the hospital where he underwent an emergency appendectomy.

Two-time league MVP Steve Nash left the game in the third quarter with stomach flu and did not return.

The Pacers have dropped seven-straight on the road and are 0-and-3 on their five-game west coast trip. They return to action Saturday night in Sacramento.
