Despite Gordon Injury, IU Tops Tennessee State

Last updated on Tuesday, December 4, 2007

(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - DJ White scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the 15th-ranked Indiana Hoosiers past Tennessee State 84-72 at Assembly Hall.

The 6-9 senior went 8-for-8 from the field in the first half. He finished 11-for-16 from the field, 7-for-9 from the free throw line and added four blocked shots.

Mike White added eleven points and Jamarcus Ellis had ten points and ten assists as the Hoosiers were forced to play most of the game without star freshman Eric Gordon.

Gordon suffered a bruised tailbone when he was knocked to the floor while making a pass with about six minutes remaining in the first half. He was limping when he left the game shortly thereafter and did not play in the second half.

Gordon finished with eight points. It was the first time in his brief college career that he failed to score at least 20 in a game.

Bruce Price led Tennessee State with 34 points - 28 after Gordon was knocked out of action.

The Tigers cut a 19-point Indiana advantage to twelve following Gordon's departure as Price, who had been guarded by Gordon, hit three-straight three-pointers.

Tennessee State would get as close as nine in the second half, but Lance Stemler hit a pair of three-pointers and Armon Bassett added another as the Hoosiers maintained a comfortable advantage the rest of the way.

The Tigers have lost three in a row to fall to 2-and-4. Indiana has won 22-straight at home dating back to last season and are 7-and-1. They host Kentucky on Saturday.
