(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Indiana University has removed the "interim" tag from football coach Bill Lynch's title.

The school announced today that lynch has signed a contract to coach the Hoosiers through July of 2012. Terms of the contract were not announced.

Lynch led the Hoosiers to a 7-and-5 record and the school's first victory in the Old Oaken Bucket game over Purdue since 2001.

The seven wins is the most for Indiana since 1993 and the Hoosiers are bowl-eligible for the first time since 1994. The Hoosiers have not appeared in a bowl game since going to the Independence Bowl in 1993.

Lynch has previously served as head coach at Butler, Ball State and DePauw. He succeeded Terry Hoeppner as head coach on June 15th, four days before Hoeppner died of complications from a brain tumor.
