Colts Fall To Bolts With Missed Field Goal

Last updated on Monday, November 12, 2007

(SAN DIEGO, CA) - Adam Vinatieri missed a 29 yard field goal with 1:31 remaining as the Indianapolis Colts suffered their second-consecutive loss, falling to the Chargers in San Diego 23-21.

Peyton Manning had one of his worst nights as a pro, throwing a franchise record six interceptions but managing to march the colts into range for a potential game-winning field goal.

San Diego's Darren Sproles returned the opening kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown and would later return a punt 45 yards for another score as the Chargers built a 23-0 lead and held on to improve to 5-and-4.

The colts started their Sunday night game in San Diego shorthanded. Five starters were inactive as wide receiver Marvin Harrison, tight end Dallas Clark, left tackle Tony Ugoh and linebackers Tyjuan Hagler and Freddy Keiaho were sidelined by injuries.

The Colts injury situation was compounded as offensive linemen Charlie Johnson and Ryan Diem and defensive linemen Dwight Freeney and Keyunta Dawson left the game with injuries and did not return.

Head Coach Tony Dungy did not have an update on their conditions following Sunday night's loss.

The Colts fall to 7-and-2 and will host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
