Ball State Becomes Bowl Eligible With Win

Last updated on Wednesday, November 14, 2007

(MUNCIE, IN) - Nate Davis threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more as the Ball State Cardinals became bowl eligible with a 41-20 win over Toledo.

The Rockets scored all of their points in the first half, building a 20-to-13 lead before Ball State scored 28 unanswered points.

Davis completed 14 of 20 passes for 265 yards with two of his scoring strikes going to Dante Love and the third to Darius Hill. Davis also scored on a pair of one-yard sneaks as he ran for two scores for the first time in his career.

Chris Clancy, who began the season as a linebacker before injuries forced him to move to the other side of the ball as a running back, ran for a career-high 103 yards and a touchdown.

Toledo's chances for a comeback in the second half ended when starting quarterback Aaron Opelt went down with an injury early in the fourth quarter. Opelt threw for 203 yards and a score while his replacement, freshman DJ Lenehan, went 0-for-4 with an interception.

Jalen Parmele ran for 123 yards and a touchdown for the Rockets.

Ball State improves to 6-and-5 and remains in the running for a postseason bowl. Toledo falls to 5-and-6 and probably had its bowl hopes dashed.

The Cardinals wind up the regular season on November 24th at Northern Illinois.
