Pacers Prep For Season Opener

Last updated on Monday, October 29, 2007

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The preseason is over and the Indiana Pacers are getting ready for Wednesday night’s season opener against the Washington Wizards.

The Pacers spent Sunday holding their annual Hoosier basketball celebration. Activities included a rally on Monument Circle in Indianapolis followed by a scrimmage at Conseco Fieldhouse that was open to the public.

The Pacers hope to be healthy Wednesday night when they host the Wizards. Jermaine O'Neal and Troy Murphy missed significant time during the preseason.

O'Neal banged knees with Shawne Williams in practice two weeks ago and sat out the Pacers' final three preseason games with swelling. Murphy missed the final four exhibitions with a strained right achilles tendon.

Head Coach Jim O'Brien thinks that O'Neal will be ready, but is less confident about Murphy's availability for the opener.

Williams will definitely be out. Williams was suspended by the team for the first three games of the regular season following his September arrest for driving without a driver's license.
