(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indiana Pacers operated shorthanded at training camp on Thursday.

All-star forward Jermaine O'Neal did not practice due to soreness in his surgically-repaired left knee. O'Neal underwent arthroscopic surgery on the knee in April.

Guard Andre Owens missed practice as he recovers from a virus while Marquis Daniels and Travis Diener were limited by knee problems. Daniels is coming back from knee surgery and Head Coach Jim O'Brien says they are limiting him in practice as he recovers.

Diener was bothered by soreness late in the Pacers' first practice session on Thursday. O'brien does not believe any of the injuries to be serious.

The Pacers are scheduled for two-a-days through Sunday, although O'Brien has said that he may not adhere to that schedule. He cancelled Wednesday evening's practice after putting them through three hours of practice and a scrimmage in the morning.

The Pacers host the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday night in the preseason opener.

The regular season opens Halloween night when the blue-and-gold welcome the Washington Wizards to Conseco Fieldhouse.
