Irish Seek First Win, Amidst 7-Game Skid

Last updated on Friday, October 5, 2007

(SOUTH BEND, IN) - The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame will try to avoid a school-record-tying eighth-straight defeat Saturday when they face UCLA in Pasadena.

The Irish are off to an 0-and-5 start and the seven-game skid dates back to last season. Notre dame has not lost eight in a row since the 1960 season.

The Bruins are 4-and-1 and are ranked 25th in this week's coaches' poll.

The Irish have faced UCLA three times previously, all Notre Dame wins and all in South Bend. The Irish have not played in Pasadena since Knute Rockne's squad beat Stanford in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day 1925.
