Pacers Forward Could Face Charges

Last updated on Wednesday, September 12, 2007

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Another Indiana Pacer could be facing criminal charges.

Forward Shawne Williams was pulled over early Tuesday for driving on expired Tennessee license plates and failing to signal a lane change.

When police questioned the 21-year-old he apparently only had a Tennessee identification card.

Police also noticed the strong smell of pot in the car. Williams and his two passengers were taken into custody.

Roderick Helton, who was in the back of the SUV, was charged for carrying a gun without a license.

The Marion County prosecutor's office is now looking over the case to determine what charges should be filed, if any. Williams' initial hearing is set for Friday. Formal charges could be filed within the next couple of days.

Williams was the first round draft pick of the Indiana Pacers in 2006.
