Colts Tighten Roster Before Saints March In

Last updated on Monday, September 3, 2007

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts are busy preparing for Thursday night’s opener of the NFL season when the New Orleans Saints come to the RCA Dome.

The Colts were back at practice Sunday and will be back on the field during today's holiday - a concession to the short week.

Kenton Keith appears to be the winner in the derby to back up Joseph Addai at running back. Running backs Dede Dorsey and Clifton Dawson were among the 22 players waived on Saturday as the Colts are down to the 53-man roster limit. The final roster could change between now and Thursday as Colts considers players cut by other teams.

The Colts announced their eight-man practice squad roster on Sunday. Seven of the eight - quarterback Josh Betts, wide receivers Trent Shelton and Aaron Brown, tight end Gijon Robinson and offensive linemen Travis Leitko (lyt'-koh), Joe Lobdell and Sam Wilder - were waived by the Colts earlier.

The other player signed on Sunday is former Arkansas running back Decori Birmingham.
