Boilermakers Open Big Ten Action Against Golden Gophers

Last updated on Thursday, September 20, 2007

(WEST LAFAYETTE, IN) - Purdue opens its Big Ten portion of the schedule on the road Saturday as the 3-and-0 Boilermakers head to Minneapolis to face the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

The Boilers' 3-and-0 start is no fluke as Purdue ranks sixth nationally in total offense, seventh in scoring offense and 24th in scoring defense.

Purdue will have to deal with the loss of starting halfback Jaycen Taylor, who will miss at least a month after breaking his arm in last Saturday's win over Central Michigan.

The Boilermakers have an experienced backup in Kory Sheets, who was the starter last year.
