Dungy Confirms McFarland Injury

Last updated on Tuesday, August 7, 2007

(TERRE HAUTE, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts will be without defensive tackle Anthony “Booger” McFarland for the foreseeable future.

Tony Dungy confirmed Monday that the 300-pounder suffered a "severe patellar tendon injury" to one of his knees in practice on Friday. Surgery is likely but Dungy says that the Colts will wait before placing McFarland on injured reserve, a move that would officially end his season.

McFarland's absence will mean additional playing time for veterans Darrell Reid and Dan Klecko as well as rookies Quinn Pitcock and Keyunta Dawson.

Pitcock practiced for the first time on Monday after missing the first week of camp with a leg injury.
