Colts Preseason Doesn't Reflect Regular Season Achievements

Last updated on Thursday, August 9, 2007

(IRVING, TX) - If there was ever a team that exemplified the lack of importance of preseason games, it is the Indianapolis Colts.

Over the last two seasons, the Colts have won 26 regular season games, two AFC South championships and one Super Bowl trophy. They have also won exactly one preseason game over that same period.

Head Coach Tony Dungy would like to change the Colts' 1-and-8 preseason record over the past two years, but realizes that there are more important things than winning preseason games.

The defending Super Bowl champs open the preseason tonight at Texas Stadium when they face the Dallas Cowboys.

Despite Dungy's desire to win, don't expect the starters to be on the field very long tonight. The only players expected to see extended action tonight are rookie left tackle Tony Ugoh, rookie receiver Anthony Gonzalez and cornerbacks Marlin Jackson and Kelvin Hayden.
