IMS And Formula One Break Relationship

Last updated on Friday, July 13, 2007

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The eight-year relationship between the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Formula One Racing has ended.

Talks between IMS Chairman Tony George and F1 Boss Bernie Ecclestone stalled prior to an agreement for the 2008 installment of the U.S. Grand Prix at the famed track.

This decision leaves Formula One Racing without a venue in the United States.

George said that he is disappointed with the conclusion of his talks with Ecclestone, but that it was prudent to leave the door open for talks in the future.

The U.S Grand Prix had its inaugural race at the IMS in 2000 and brought 100 million dollars annually to the city of Indianapolis.
