Indians Win To Begin Homestand

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - John Van Benschoten pitched shutout ball into the seventh as the Indianapolis Indians opened their longest homestand of the season by edging the Buffalo Bisons 2-1.

Rajai Davis drove in both Indianapolis runs with a two-run triple in the fifth.

Buffalo did not dent the scoreboard until the eighth when Shin-Soo Choo drove home their lone run with an RBI single.

Van Benschoten pitched six and two-thirds, giving up three hits while walking four and striking out five to improve to 5-and-3.

Aaron Laffey allowed two runs on six hits over eight innings to take the loss, falling to 0-and-3.

Game two of the four-game series is tonight at Victory Field.
