White Returning To Hoosiers Next Season

Last updated on Tuesday, April 17, 2007

(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Indiana Basketball Coach Kelvin Sampson says DJ White will return for his senior season with the Hoosiers.

Sampson told the Indianapolis Star that White came to his decision over the weekend after talking with his parents and his coach.

Next season will be White's senior year academically, but he does have the option of applying for an additional year of eligibility as a medical redshirt after missing all but five games with a broken foot two seasons ago.

The 6'9" center led IU with 13.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game last season.

White's return is expected to make Indiana a contender for the school's first Big Ten Championship since 2002. He will join Sampson's highly-touted recruiting class of guards Eric Gordon, Jamarcus Ellis and Jordan Crawford, forward Brandon McGee and centers Eli Holman and DeAndre Thomas.
