Pacers Downward Losing Spiral Continues

Last updated on Thursday, March 15, 2007

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Jermaine O’Neal returned to the Indiana lineup, but it was not enough for the Pacers to avoid their eleventh-straight setback.

Gilbert Arenas scored 28 of his game-high 35 points in the second half to lead the Washington Wizards past the Pacers 112-96. Antawn Jamison added 27 for the Wizards, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

O'Neal led Indiana with 24 points and seven rebounds in 30 minutes of action. He had missed Indiana's last three games with a sprained left knee. Danny Granger finished with 19 and Troy Murphy added 17.

With the loss, the Pacers fall out of a playoff berth. They are tied with New York for ninth place in the east, percentage points behind eighth-place Orlando.

The Pacers host the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday. With a loss against the Hawks, the blue-and-gold would tie a franchise record for the longest losing streak at twelve. The Pacers lost twelve-straight in January and February 1989.
