(UNDATED) The NCAA tournament gets underway in earnest on Thursday with two of Indiana's four entries in action.

The Indiana Hoosiers open their first NCAA tournament under head coach Kelvin Sampson tomorrow night when they face Gonzaga in Sacramento.

The Hoosiers were 20-and-10 in Sampson's initial campaign, earning the number-seven seed in the west region.

The Bulldogs are 23-and-10 and seeded tenth. Gonzaga eliminated the Hoosiers from the tournament last year, beating IU 90-80 in the second round.

The Butler Bulldogs find themselves in the rare position of being potential upset victims as they open the NCAA tournament Thursday afternoon against Old Dominion in Buffalo.

The Bulldogs are the number-five seed in the Midwest region. In 17 of the last 18 NCAA tournaments, at least one number-five seed has fallen to a twelve-seed in the opening round. The Bulldogs struggled late in the season, picking up four of their six losses in the final month.

ODU is 24-and-8. The Monarchs had won twelve straight before falling to George Mason in the semifinals of the Colonial Athletic tournament.

Notre Dame and Purdue open tournament play on Friday. The Fighting Irish face Winthrop in Spokane on Friday afternoon while the Boilermakers play Arizona in new Orleans on Friday evening.
