Colts Get Extra Picks In NFL Draft

Last updated on Tuesday, March 27, 2007

(UNDATED) - The Indianapolis Colts received three compensatory picks for next month’s NFL draft.

The Colts received choices in the third, fourth and fifth rounds to compensate for a net loss of three free agents before the 2006 season. The compensatory picks are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors.

The Colts lost running back Edgerrin James, linebacker David Thornton, tackle Larry Tripplett and kicker Mike Vanderjagt to free agency while gaining kicker Adam Vinatieri.
