On Tuesday night, the Mitchell Boys Varsity basketball team overran the Spartans of South Knox during the first game of the Class 2A, Sectional 46 at Paoli with a final score reading 62 to 42.
The Mitchell Bluejackets lead the entire game, exiting the first quarter with the score of 18 to 10. The Bluejackets later surged ahead and entered the locker room at the half with a lead of 32 to 16.
Mitchell then surged ahead and extended their lead to 48 to 27 in the third quarter. The battle ended Tuesday night with the Bluejackets on top and the final on the scoreboard reading 62 to 42.
Scoring for the Bluejackets were Zack Kern with 4 points, Joel Smith with 15 points and a "sizzling" Jordan Hawkins with a total of 21 points scored during the sectional game.
The Mitchell Bluejackets will meet Linton-Stockton this Friday evening. Linton-Stockton defeated the Rams of Paoli on Tuesday night with a final score of 56 to 39. A 13 to 0 differental early in that game allowed Linton-Stockton to control the remainder of the competition.
