LUBBOCK, TEXAS--Bob Knight's son, Pat will become Texas Tech's basketball coach when his "Hall of Fame" father retires.

Bobby has reach the age of 64 and is under contract through May of 2009.

Pat Knight, a Texas Tech assistant, signed a contract last Friday in which he was named coach-designate, the idea being that he will continue to build on what his Dad has established at Texas Tech. Recruiting and continuity were the reasons behind the decision.
