Arthur Frommer is generally acknowledged to be the nation's foremost authority on travel. In 1957, Arthur Frommer published Europe on $5 a Day, which set off a torrent of American overseas travel. In addition, the nearly 50 consecutive editions launched the Frommer Travel name, which now carries more than 320 titles published annually, accounting for nearly 25% of all travel books sold. In 1998, Frommer founded the Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel magazine, now known as the largest-selling national magazine on affordable travel (currently owned by Newsweek). Frommer's biweekly column (syndicated by King Features) appears in newspapers ranging from the Los Angeles Times to the Newark Star-Ledger, and scores of publications in between. It is the most widely-distributed travel column in journalism today. He has appeared on such shows as The Oprah Winfrey Show, NBC's TODAY Show, Live! With Regis and Kelly, and many others.
