Daniels Signs "Silver Alerts" Into Law
Last updated on Monday, May 04, 2009
(STATEHOUSE) - Governor Daniels has signed into law a bill creating the equivalent of “Amber Alerts” for senior citizens.
But it's not clear how many bulletins the new "Silver Alert" would generate. Amber Alerts grew out of the recognition that the odds of rescuing an abducted child plummet after the first 24 hours.
Clarian Senior Health Center Medical Director Eugene Lammers says there's a similar rule of thumb when Alzheimer's patients wander off.
