(STATEHOUSE) - Protesters are planning a modern day tea party on the steps of the Indiana Statehouse.

This time, organizers aren't speaking out against a tea tax, they're protesting spending in Washington.

Indianapolis Tea Party Spokesman Dustin Doyle cites the federal bank bailout plan as an example. He claims dozens of fellow frustrated Hoosiers have been attending grassroots meetings to organize the upcoming protest.

Doyle says the goal of the tea party is to send a message to state and federal lawmakers that there is growing opposition to irresponsible spending. He expects up to 3,000 people to attend.

The protest is set for April 15th (tax day) from noon to 2:00pm.
