Dems: Unemployment Fund Fix Could Cost Workers $2,000 In Benefits
Last updated on Tuesday, March 24, 2009
(STATEHOUSE) - Indiana Senate Democrats charge Republicans’ proposed fix for the bankrupt unemployment fund would cost workers as much as $2,000 dollars in benefits.
The GOP plan increases the maximum unemployment check by $34 dollars a week. But it also slices the maximum reimbursement from 55-percent of your former paycheck to 50-percent.
That means workers who were earning less than about $40,000 dollars a year would see a smaller check.
