Bayh Helps Delta Queen Keep Head Of Steam
(WASHINGTON, DC) - Senator Evan Bayh has proposed legislation to allow the continued operation of the historic Delta Queen steamboat, which travels the Ohio River on Indiana’s southern border and other Midwestern waterways.
The bill cosponsored by Bayh would renew the Delta Queen's 40-year old exemption from the Safety of Life at Sea law, thereby allowing the riverboat to continue its historic cruises.
If the exemption is not renewed before it expires on Oct. 31, the Delta Queen would be forced to cease operation.
