(WESTFIELD) - A well-known state senator is officially done.

Jeff Drozda is transferring to South Carolina as part of his job with United Healthcare.

The Westfield Republican was one of the most staunchly conservative votes during his six years in the Senate. He gained notoriety a few years ago during the daylight saving time debate when he brought a large clock onto the floor of the house.

Drozda's replacement will be appointed during a special caucus of precinct leaders. The official announcement of his resignation means that caucus must be held within 30 days. Kokomo Representative Jim Buck, Westfield school board member Dave Mueller, Tipton County Commissioner Monty Henderson and Zionsville attorney Rick Skiles are expected to run for his seat.

Drozda represents parts of Howard, Boone, Hamilton, and Tipton counties.
