Steve Carter Will Not Run For Re-Election

(UNDATED) - Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter says he will not run for another term in office.
Carter says he is proud of the fact that he has maintained the office longer than the last three predecessors. He says he is most proud of the state do-not call law, working with Conner Prairie to establish itself as a free-standing museum, reversing the ban on the prayer at the legislature, and cleaning up public corruption in Northwest Indiana.
Carter didn't speak of any specific plans once he leaves office, but says he will look toward the private sector or possibly non-profit.
The state parties will slate an attorney general candidate for the November ballot at their respective conventions this summer.
