(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana’s newest congressman is putting a new spin on the town meeting back home.
Andre Carson is calling it "Congress On Your Corner." He worked the room at Shapiro's Deli for 20 minutes, shaking hands with the lunchtime crowd, before setting up shop in a corner of the restaurant, with fliers on immigration, social security and passport issues.
Carson's already scheduled a similar visit to Southeast Community Center on Indy's South Side on Thursday, and says there will be more at stores and restaurants across the seventh district.
Getting out and about serves a dual purpose -- Carson's facing seven opponents in the Democratic primary in May.
